Having dissected the budget , technology and the first box office , I had a little left out because Avatar many other excellent films must be emphasized. But I come back this morning because James Cameron has just beaten his own record by $ in the world and Titanic, as everyone thought was invincible swept in a few weeks.

Avatar the Box Office

After seventh straight weekend at the box office top spot in the U.S., Avatar is now only $ 30 million behind Titanic and surpassed in the world exceeding $ 2 billion.

It is therefore the first film in the history of cinema to achieve this score and it is not finished. Avatar is still in its seventh week of release while Titanic had taken a year to reach 1.8 billion.

The film amounts to 1.45 billion worldwide and $ 594.5 million to U.S. $ 30M is behind Titanic ($ 600.8 million). In a few days, it will be far ahead. Indeed, competition does not seem able to stop the ascent and many blockbusters there are broken teeth.

Films such as The Edge of Darkness and Sherlock Holmes have made correct scores but very insufficient to dislodge Avatar consider its first place among the releases to come, I do not see any yet able to achieve this feat.

I am even wondering if the only movie that can get out of this avatar first place will not last ... Avatar 2.

Post number of entries

You know that, beyond the box office in $, a great debate raging around the film for counting the number of entries. It is indeed a very important data because it compares two films not counting inflation. Many critics of Avatar or fervent defenders of the Titanic put this argument forward to defend the record of their foals.

Avatar being released in Imax or 3D over 2D, squares are a little more expensive. In addition, $ 1 is not the same value today that 12 years ago. To avoid calculations of scientists, the simplest way of comparison becomes the number of entries and on this point, we must recognize that Avatar is still far from the Titanic.
