The American franchises were definitely a lot of trouble moving ahead into the third section. To believe that a curse falls on arriving every sequence in the fourth episode. So let a point on Spiderman 4, 4 and Underworld Bourne 4 ... all these blockbusters that studios can no longer manage.

Spiderman 4 the debacle

Mythical character of Marvel Comics for decades, Spiderman has made the fortune of Sony. The first two episodes have been real successful film, the third a little less. Within five years, Sam Raimi has still managed to bring the wonder and run to the screen what is best in comics. All were not so lucky and Batman has to wait the arrival of Christopher Nolan finally reach a level worthy of its reputation.

If we do a quick summary of these three episodes, here is what happens in terms of critical and box office:

So we see clearly that the good opinion of crumbling over the early episodes and the last one did not really pleased the audience. Sam Raimi has acknowledged that too many enemies too and psychology had Peter Parker go into the background. He therefore wished to change this approach in the fourth episode.

The box office figures also confirm this decline significantly.

Sam Raimi wanted to come back to a single foe, The Vulture (John Malkovich) and an ally, Black Cat (Anne Hattaway) (we even had voted to elect the sexiest actress ) to better focus on action. Sony decided otherwise and lack of agreement on a workable script, Sam Raimi has slammed the door of the franchise. With him went Tobey Maguire (and it fits me well) and all the rest of the characters mentioned above.

Sony now wants to return to the beginning of the story of Peter Parker with a Spiderman Reboot and is in talks with Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) to take over the role. We know that the story takes place in high school and we rediscover Peter Parker. Lerman said he was very interested (what a surprise) but I think the output of Percy Jackson is the true barometer of feasibility Spiderman for him. Apart from that, nothing much more to this day ...

In summary, Sony has fallen out with the director who has allowed this franchise to explode on the screen, lost his title and interpreter does not know which way to go. All is well then.

Underworld 4 uncertain

Underworld, a large deductible on vampires and a good this time, unlike the Twilight and the poor Daybreakers. Oriented films on the action and the war between Lycans and Vampires.

Perfectly staged, well controlled and highlighted (Daybreakers has also pumped all), the three episodes have really satisfied the fans of the genre. However, in light of criticisms of the venerable institution "Rotten Tomatoes, everyone does not share my opinion about the quality of the series ... but I maintain.

As you know, Kate Beckinsale was not part of the 3rd component (replaced by Rhona Mitra) and her husband, Len Wisman had left it out at Patrick Tatopoulos. Personally, the change of director did not hit. By cons, for me, Kate Beckinsale is Selene and should remain so. These changes may have affected the box office.

For the fourth installment of the series Underworld, it is just question of his return and that of her husband at the controls. In addition, the studio has announced that this episode would be offered in 3D (thank you Avatar) and would be following the uprising of the Lycans. Good rejoicing for fans of the series which I belong. For once we are offered not just another reboot that totally distorts the original idea.

Frankly, I do not see what we can expect better than Kate Beckinsale in skin-tight suit in 3D.

However, all this remains as the domain of rumor and no confirmation has been given clear on this project. Still a fourth installment in a franchise that has trouble hatch.

However, the matter is there because the studio is considering making a new trilogy Underworld complete this fourth episode which would be the launch pad. It is therefore likely that Kate Beckinsale will be on hand, at least to put this new triptych on the right track. To believe that the number 4 is unlucky to blockbusters.

Jason Bourne 4 water

As for Underworld, I am a fan of this series. Jason Bourne is for me one of the most successful action film / espionage in recent years. Matt Damon, whose natural charisma does not seem obvious, becomes in the skin of Bourne, a killer of a cold, accuracy and impressive mastery. I was won from the first trilogy fan and stayed until the end.

Let me tell you that I await news of Jason Bourne 4 with perhaps even more impatient than you all together. That said, CETT franchise can operate only under certain conditions: Matt Damon in the title role and Paul Greengrass at the helm and John Powell music. If one of these three essential ingredients disappears, everything can fall apart.

Furthermore (contrary to the Underworld), the majority of you seem to agree with me on the quality of the series.

As you see, you were very likely to plebiscite this third aspect of Jason Bourne with a magnificent 93% satisfaction with Rotten Tomatoes. It also Bourne Ultimatum, which has worked best at box office, smashing the previous two episodes.

Faced with these numbers growing, any studio owner would normally be the feet and hands to start the fourth set and quickly ... well not at Universal. The studio, who certainly never do anything like the others, takes his time and even allows himself to lose his best assets on the road.

For the moment, it was confirmed that two scenarios were written in parallel and no clear direction had been chosen. Universal did close the door to any prequel (one episode before the first of the series) eventually. This would imply, therefore, necessarily mean that Matt Damon is no longer part of the cast.

I told you earlier that Universal is losing its best players on the way: this is already the case with Paul Grenngrass who has announced he will not run after Jason Bourne. Disagreement on the scenario, financial or personal quarrel, I do not know. What I do know cons is that Matt Damon has always said that without Greengrass, it would not turn away either. Oops, two of the biggest assets less.

Matt Damon was also confirmed in an interview with the first of Invictus:

"There'll Probably Be a prequel of Some Kind Another actor with director and Another Before We do another one ... just because I think we're five years away Another Probably from doing it - we've got to get a script ..."

In other words, I'm not about to see Damon in the series! Indeed, if Universal, which until now denies having made any decision whatsoever, chooses the path of the prequel, I do not see how fifth episode with Matt Damon could be turned. In 5 years, Damon will be 5 years older (inevitably!) And I am afraid it is a little late to play the super spy.

Naturally, and for the bright side a bit, we can look forward to a possible prequel that would allow us to discover the life of Jason Bourne before his enlistment ... well, what little comfort!

Hence there is a fourth episode that seems ill stand out and may even put the whole series if the ground is badly thought. When I tell you that the numbers are cursed 4.
